New Liposuction of 2010: Accusculpt (Does not Just Remove Fat)

The only intervention to reshape the body and reduce fat, in cosmetic surgery, has always been liposuction, born in Italy in the ‘70s. Now, forty years later, things changed quite a lot in cosmetic surgery and there are new and improved procedures to perform a liposuction. The introduction of laser, water jets, pulsed light and so on has dramatically improved the effectiveness and safeness of “lipos”. Regarding the laser ones, there’s a new liposuction technique of 2010: Accusculpt. Accusculpt differs from traditional liposuction because fat is not fragmented and then aspirated mechanically with medium and large-caliber cannulas, but it’s dissolved and sucked in a smooth and minimally invasive way with a microcannula of 1-2 mm. Furthermore, this new liposuction technique allows also a greater control of the circulatory system and minimizes bleeding, bruising and swelling.

It’s performed under local anesthesia with the tumescent technique based on a number of local infiltrations of a mixture of substances (lidocaine, adrenaline and a vasoconstrictive drug) that makes the subcutaneous fat softer and smoother.

Accusculpt is also available for the face: it removes in a very precise way millimeter of fatty deposits that cause imperfections, like the double chin or a prominent mandible area.  This treatment is called Acculift: the laser energy goes through the more superficial layers of the skin, causing the skin to tense, like it happens in a facelift, and stimulating the natural production of dermal collagen. For these reasons, this technique can be applied to people older than sixty years of age, usually untreatable because of poor skin elasticity. The use of a new laser with a wavelength of 1444 nm (nanometers), higher than that of lasers currently used for other laser liposuction techniques, can selectively dissolve fat from three to five times more than other lasers and to remove without damaging tissues and adjacent vascular structures.

Futhermore, this new liposuction technique permanently solves the problem of essential idiopathic hyperhidrosis. This laser treatment is made under local anesthesia by inserting a laser fiber that makes a photo-coagulation of the axillary sweat glands that are necrotized, without risks or scars, preserving the physiological mechanism of perspiration, which is essential for the wellness of the body.
